11 Extreme content creating mistakes

Content creating mistakes can affect our content ranking and reach, and that’s why realizing the mistakes will help us in fixing them to make our content better. I remember the time when I used to get frustrated with my posts not ranking or not found without understanding why. Yes, I am guilty of all these mistakes and because I want you to be better than me from the start of your content creating journey.

Let’s start with the content creating mistakes:

Mistake #1: Search for KW’s for 1 content piece at a time.

One reason people get burned out when creating a new piece of content is because of searching for keywords every single time. Keyword search is essential for any successful content creating system, however, batch research can help with the burnout.

Mistake #2: Not reusing content for different platforms

When you have multiple content platforms, you don’t have to create different content for each one. Just reuse the content from one platform to the other.

As an example: I created this list to post 11 IG posts and I reused it as a blog post.

Mistake #3: Starting with many platforms at once

I do encourage having multiple platforms for content creating, but going too far with it and having too many platforms will only burn you down and you won’t have enough time or focus.

Mistake #4: Using advanced KW search tools

Researching keywords for your content is essential, however, for many reasons the advanced keyword search tools can suggest keywords you won’t compete with. That’s why you should start with SEO friendly keywords that aren’t difficult to rank for.

Mistake #5: Trying to compete with high competitive KW’s

It is to complete the previous point. Whenever you choose to compete with high competitive keywords, you’ll struggle at first, which will discourage you. Try to use keywords that aren’t highly competitive but there’s a chance to compete with.

Mistake #6: Creating seasonal content at the time of the season

How many of us jumped to their PC’s trying to create seasonal content as close to the season as possible? I’m guilty

The search for seasonal content can be massive however content that’s been out there for longer can rank easier without ads. So, think at least 3 months ahead of time and start planning your seasonal content and throw it out there, so when the season starts, your content will be of the ones to jump up.

.

Mistake #7: Not including a list building content in your posts

How many of us create content and not include a lead magnet or list building opt-in in the post? Regardless of what platform you’re creating the content on, always promote a lead magnet to build your list for the future when you create your products.

Mistake #8: Creating content anonymously

The number 1 way to get your content known is to have one theme/topic/niche to create content around. Creating content without a goal or purpose about different topics will confuse the people who land on your page and end up not being an audience. Choose a niche and write about the same topic connecting your pieces together to make your content searchable and grow your audience.

Mistake #9: Implementing different advice from each method out there at the same time

When you read advice from one content creator to apply it, then another one from different creator and apply it, then a third one ….etc

The cycle keeps going on and you keep implementing different things and only end up in failing your content and preventing it from ranking.

Stick to one thing that you’re sure is right, knowing that there are many factors that affect everyone’s content such as (niche, domain authority, keywords, age of website…etc)

Mistake #10: Having short-term goals behind your content creating plan

When you create content, it’s really important to have a long-term plan. Thinking about the upcoming month or two will burn you down when you reach the end of your plan AND won’t let you create content strategically.

For example: when you plan for 6 months in advance you can think about what types of posts you want to create, what sides of the problem you are solving needs covering, what to plan and prepare your audience for an upcoming product.

All these things matter and count.

Mistake #11: Posting the same type of posts in a row

There are many types of posts out there when you create content, and on each platform there are different posts. These are some examples:

Blog posts: list post, interview post, Q&A post, Meaty pillar post, Affiliate post

Instagram: Inspiring post, educational post, advertising post, personal post, entertaining post

YouTube: Interview, Q&A, lesson learned, behind the scenes…etc.

Now regardless of what platform you’re creating content for, creating the same content repeatedly will burn out your audience, and that’s why variety is important when creating content.
